ADAS Camera Engineer
Location: Ingolstadt, Germany
Type: Full-Time | Level: Mid-to-Senior
About the Role
We’re seeking a highly skilled ADAS Camera Engineer (m/f/d) to join our client’s Automotive Engineering team in Ingolstadt. In this role, you’ll work at the intersection of cutting-edge camera systems, image processing, and embedded software, supporting the development and optimization of next-generation ADAS and infotainment platforms.
You’ll be part of a regional expert team collaborating with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers — from concept to commercialization. Your primary focus will be to design, debug, and optimize camera pipelines, integrate imaging hardware with embedded platforms, and solve complex system-level issues to support production-grade vehicle launches.
What You’ll Do
-
Develop and debug camera software within the BSP and embedded software stack on automotive SoCs.
-
Integrate and optimize camera sensors, image signal processors (ISP), and related software pipelines.
-
Work with image processing algorithms, including classical techniques and ML-based solutions.
-
Analyze and resolve system-level issues across hardware and software interfaces.
-
Collaborate with internal and external teams to customize and enhance camera solutions.
-
Lead technical efforts within small cross-functional teams and provide mentorship.
-
Support testing, validation, and productization of ADAS camera features.
Required Qualifications
-
Proven experience in software development or applications engineering in embedded environments.
-
Hands-on expertise with QNX, Linux, or Android.
-
Solid programming skills in C/C++ and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
-
Strong understanding of a typical automotive camera pipeline and embedded integration.
-
Familiarity with image processing techniques — both traditional and ML-based.
-
Excellent debugging and triage skills, especially in complex embedded systems.
-
Methodical working style with an emphasis on high-quality deliverables under pressure.
-
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
-
Able to adapt quickly to evolving technologies and environments.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience with ADAS or Automotive Infotainment systems.
-
Knowledge of camera sensor tuning, ISP optimization, and performance debugging.
-
Experience with video encoding/decoding protocols (e.g., H.265).
-
Understanding of image optimization, compression algorithms, and visual data pipelines.
-
Familiarity with image signal processors and real-time camera feed processing.
-
Experience using test equipment like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters.
-
Exposure to camera integration in safety-critical systems and video data validation.
Education
-
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics, or related field. (Master’s preferred)
Why Join?
-
Work on next-generation ADAS and camera technology powering modern vehicles.
-
Collaborate with leading automotive innovators and global tech teams.
-
Take ownership of challenging projects with room for technical leadership and mentorship.
-
Be part of a team that values creativity, initiative, and cross-functional excellence.
